City Read London

How exciting - we only have a couple of days before City Read London begins.  The book chosen for the whole of London to read is Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens.

In Havering Libraries, we have a whole programme of exciting events lined up.  These include creative writing sessions for adults and young people.  Children get to join in by making a puppet theatre (I cant wait to see them!).  There are also quizzes for adults and children, with a chance to win a copy of the book.  If you are poetic of nature then you can also join in the poetry competition.

Other things going on.....we have a talk on the Romford Workhouse coming up - and also, on World Book Night we will be giving away free books!  Oh yes - free books!  A couple of people have been chosen as gifters for World Book Night and will be gifting our books from Romford Library.  We have combined this with readings from Dickens, so it should be a great evening!

So - over the next week or so, I will be in the sunny Lake District and updating this from there (internet access permitting!)
