Oh the fun we have!

I know this blog is not solely being read by Havering Library peeps - I see the statistics! - but I thought I would highlight some of the events we have coming up over the next couple of months.  I appreciate that not all readers will be able to get to our events, but they might be enough to prompt you to talk to your local library service and ask why they aren't running events, activities and classes!

So, a quick run through - by no means does this cover everything we do! For that depth of information (and if you are close enough) why dont you pop into your local library and pick up the "Events Calendar".

Regular events for children:

Baby Bounce - for youngest babies - singing and rhymes.  Held at Romford, Collier Row, Elm Park, Harold Hill, Harold Wood, Hornchurch, Rainham and Upminster Libraries
Wiggle and Giggle - next age up!  These are for the more active toddlers and include action rhymes and songs.  Held at Hornchurch, Upminster and South Hornchurch Libraries
Read and Rhyme - nearly ready to start school? Then this one is for you.  Held at Romford, Collier Row, Elm Park, Gidea Park, Harold Hill, Harold Wood, Hornchurch, Rainham and Upminster Libraries

Children's Reading Group at Romford Library - starts 31st Jan!  There is also the Special Agents Reading Group at Gidea Park library aimed at 8-12s
Saturday Clubs - South Hornchurch, Rainham and Harold Hill Libraries have Saturday clubs for children, these may include crafts, creative writing and book talk.
Needlecraft for tweens and teens - this group meets at Hornchurch Library - they are currently knitting and will be moving onto crochet soon!

Warhammer and Yu-Gi-OH - Rainham is the branch where you can make and fight with your earhammer models.  Or pop over to Collier Row to join their friendly little Yu-gi-OH club
We also have Reading Buddies in some of our libraries - these are volunteers (CRB checked etc) who will help your child with their reading.

Regular events for adults:

Reading Groups - all Havering Libraries run Reading Groups - some are during the daytime and some are in the evening.  We also have 4 specialist groups:  Romford Library hosts the LGBT reading group (due to start soon), Romford also hosts the Foreign Fiction Reading Group (again, due to start soon) and Rainham Library host the Listening Group, which focuses on spoken word books.  If Quick Reads are more your style, why not try out the Quick Reads Reading Groups at Harold Hill and South Hornchurch Libraries?
Young at Heart - aimed at our adult users.  These are a mix of chat, speakers, quizzes etc - the exact content depends on the group.  These are held at Romford, Collier Row, Elm Park, Harold Hill, Harold Wood, Rainham, South Hornchurch and Upminster Libraries
Knit and Natter - these (and other needlecraft based groups) are friendly groups of like-minded people.  They meet up to chat, swap patterns and .....knit (or sew, crochet etc).  There are groups at Collier Row, Elm Park, Harold Wood, Rainham and Upminster Libraries
Too Many Cooks is our group for sampling and swapping recipes.  These run at Collier Row, Harold Wood and Upminster Libraries.
Hmmmm - thats probably more than enough information for now.  Why not pop into one of our libraries to find out about our one-off events, classes and activities?
